Dr Monika Sharma

Lecturer, Pediatrics,

Christian Medical College,Ludhiana.

Profile:

After graduating from NHL MMC,Ahmedabad, I did my postgraduation in pediatrics from the same college. My favorite game as a kid was to play teacher and that is what I wanted to be. As I grew up I decided to be a doctor(or shall I say my father convinced me that it was what I wanted to be). I loved medicene and so took up pediatrics, because I didn't want to end in a situation with an adult and be unable to revive him. Well, I believe in destiny and that is what took a smooth turn and took me into teaching medicene, which I am now doing at Christian Medical college, Ludhiana for the last 2 and a half years.

My only hobbies are reading, reading, reading and spending time with my son.

On the job, I love to teach my junior residents and continue to be a student myself.I am currently studying to be a developmental pediatrician.

For me 2007 was eventful. Besides joining FAIMER, I started a developmental disabilities clinic in my department at CMC, which is doing fairly well; wrote a lot of papers this year and was awarded the IAP fellowship for pediatric neurology for 2007 which I will be finishing next year. I hope I can fulfil several more of my academic dreams in the coming years!
